“HILL Trainers Certificate” programme

The programme is flexible and can be personalized to your individual needs and prior experiences. The final evaluation consists of a CGI (criterium guided interview) where both parties interact in order to come to a final assessment of the level of competence in implementing HILL and certification by the High Impact Learning (HILL) Academy.

Get your own personalised track towards your HILL Trainers Certificate:

  • You take your final evaluation as soon as you feel competent for it.
  • You did take minimum 6 days.
  • You choose your own track and timing.
  • You have a major influence on content used.
  • You determine your speed of learning.
  • You choose in what order you follow the parts.
  • We make together with you a personalised track in order to see how we can organize your journey (depending on subscription with a small group or a large group).

Concrete data for implementation will be agreed as soon as possible after approval of the offer.
Special rates are offered when several trainers from the same organization participate.

Inspirational- and analysis session: HILL introduction. -1 day

This session gives you scientific know-how and insights in why a change towards a HILL approach is needed. Participants learn how to develop a shared vision on HILL among trainees.

The following aspects are included in the inspiration and analysis session:

1st part of the day:

  • Why is HILL the training mode of the future?
  • What is the scientific basis for HILL ?
  • What does HILL mean? What do the building blocks mean? What do they actually look like in practice? How do we deal with this in our training? What works well and what works less well? Why?
  • What does HILL mean in a course or in a programme? What are the final qualifications of your course/programme?

2nd part of the day:

  • How do we view HILL as a group? What choices do we make?
  • What is our shared vision? (shared vision HILL)
    • Which courses are currently being provided?
    • What structure / methodology is underlying to this?
    • What works / does not work? Why?
    • Challenges or limitations?
    • What are the steps in implementation?

Bootcamps

Bootcamps are intensive training days in which you learn to master fully each building block. 1 day per bootcamp; some HILL building blocks can be combined. We always start with the first 3 most essential building blocks:

Bootcamps are organized at specific dates in your institution/organisation, but individuals can also ask to join a bootcamp elsewhere.

Bootcamp Creating Urgency. 1 day

In an Urgency bootcamp, you learn:

  1. Key methods for creating urgency among learners
  2. Solutions for creating variation in urgency
  3. Why urgency is a must.
  4. How to implement urgency.
  5. Why creating urgency does not cost you extra time but renders you great impact.

Questions such as the following will be tackled:

  • How can the strongest urgency be created?
  • How do we create urgency continuously?
  • Should we vary in urgency for learners?
  • What types of urgency are there?
  • What are the different effects of different types of urgency?
  • Can we create urgency for large groups such as e.g. 700 learners?

 

Bootcamp Installing Learner Agency 1 day

In a Learner Agency bootcamp, you learn:

  1. Key methods for creating agency.
  2. Core effects of learner agency.
  3. Solutions for problematic agency problems.
  4. Why agency is a must for learning.
  5. How to implement agency for small or large groups (20 up to 3000 learners).
  6. Why creating agency does not cost you extra time but gives you great impact.

Questions such as the following will be tackled:

  • How can the strongest agency be created?
  • How do we create agency continuously?
  • Do all learners need agency to learn impactful?
  • Should we vary in agency for learners?
  • How do we know what level of agency is appropriate for learners?
  • What types of agency are there?
  • What are the different effects of different types of agency?
  • Can we create agency for large groups such as e.g. 700 learners?

 

Bootcamp Assessment as Learning 1 day

In an AaL bootcamp, you learn:

  1. Key methods for AaL
  2. Assessment problems and AaL solutions
  3. Why AaL is a must.
  4. How to implement AaL, manage AaL and administer AaL.
  5. Why AaL does not cost you extra time but renders you great impact.

Questions such as the following will be tackled:

  • How do we assess currently?
  • What is working well and what is not as we would like it?
  • Consequential validity of the current assessment?
  • What is AaL? What forms are there?
  • How do we ensure variation?
  • Can I still take a classic test?
  • How many tests can work?
  • What methods do support AaL?
  • How do these look like in practice?
  • Why individual but also group evaluations are a must.
  • How do I set up portfolios, criterion-oriented interviews, peer assessment, 360° feedback, etc.?
  • How do I implement that? Can a course work without testing?
  • How are these related to our final qualifications?

  4. How to implement HILL coaching; how to coach one to one and one to team.
  5. Tips and tricks for high quality HILL coaching.
  6. Why coaching does not cost you extra time but renders you great impact.

Questions such as the following will be tackled:

  • How can we coach best?
  • What are the best tricks to coach in a HILL supportive way?
  • How frequently should we coach learners?
  • How does coaching relate to feedback?
  • Do we need to coach the process (PDP) and on the content to be learned, or should this be done by two separate coaches?
  • Do we coach at the individual level, or at the team level, or both?
  • Should we vary in coaching methods in for learners?
  • How do we coach for small groups and how for large groups?

 

Bootcamp Hybrid learning 1 day of ½ day

In a hybrid learning bootcamp, you learn:

  1. Key principles for hybrid learning
  2. Why mere blended e-learning never works and creates a drop-out of over 90%.
  3. E-learning problems and hybridity solutions.
  4. Why hybrid learning is a must.
  5. How to implement hybridity in learning processes.
  6. Why Hybrid learning saves time and can create extra give impact.

Questions such as the following will be tackled:

  • What is the difference between blended learning and hybrid learning?
  • Why is mere e-learning not effective?
  • How can the strongest impact be created with hybridity?
  • How do we create a hybrid learning path?

 

Bootcamp Flexibility (formal/informal learning) ½ day

In an ‘informal learning’ bootcamp, you learn:

  1. Key methods for informal learning.
  2. What can we still do in formal learning? How do we lecture? How to provide instruction?
  3. Informal learning problems and solutions.
  4. How informal learning is related to your infrastructure.
  5. How to implement and manage informal learning.
  6. Why informal learning does not cost you extra time but can render extra impact.

Questions such as the following will be tackled:

  • What is informal learning? How to use it?
  • How do we arrange our infrastructure to support informal learning?
  • What tips and tricks are there for increasing informal learning?
  • How do we organize formal learning in a HILL environment?
  • When and how do we provide lectures, instruction, skills trainings, etc.?

 

Bootcamp Action and knowledge sharing 1 or ½ day

In an Action & Knowledge Sharing bootcamp, you learn:

  1. Key methods for knowledge sharing.
  2. Knowledge sharing problems solutions.
  3. How knowledge sharing is related to presence in vivo or virtually.
  4. How to implement knowledge sharing.
  5. Why knowledge sharing does give you great impact.

Questions such as the following will be tackled:

  • How can the strongest knowledge sharing or action be created?
  • How do we create knowledge sharing continuously?
  • Should we vary in knowledge sharing methods for learners?
  • How is this intertwined with coaching methods?
  • What types of knowledge sharing are there?
  • What are the different effects of different types of knowledge sharing?
  • Can knowledge sharing methods be used during the learning process, during assessment processes, etc.?

HILL training day in interaction with others: Visit HILL based programmes

1 or 2 days

These days will be planned in different High Impact Learning (HILL) Academy based programmes that have several years of experience. We visit and observe. We look at how the HILL building blocks work and look at risk and success factors within High Impact Learning (HILL) Academy programmes. We learn to focus on strengthening the success factors.

You will learn during this day:

  • How you ensure that learners feel an urgency, take responsibility and approach an assignment with enthusiasm.
  • What you have to do to make learners enjoy a pleasant education in which they learn as a driven employee.
  • Let learners develop initiatives themselves from which they learn strongly.
  • 3rd generation assessment: how do I arrive at Assessment-as-Learning in practice?

Constant feedback from the High Impact Learning (HILL) Academy experts this day lead to deeper insight and the courage to create new applications.

Train the HILL Trainers

Follow a TTT (Train the Trainers) day around the implementation of all HILL building blocks and the interaction between the building blocks. The emphasis is also on:

  • How do you see when fellow trainers/teachers fall back on past behaviour. How do you deal with that?
  • What are the risk factors for relapse? How do I recognise it?
  • How do you achieve real behavioural change in the long term?
  • How do we deal with learners who adapt to a HILL approach?
  • What is HILL coaching?
  • How do I coach my colleagues in a High Impact Learning (HILL) Academy programme?
